The 26th Hussars

The 26th Hussars were raised in India on 1st February 1941, the initial drafts coming from the 14th/20th King's Hussars which accounts for the similarity in badges. The Regiment became part of the 255 Indian Tank Brigade in 1942, part of the Indian 32nd Armoured Brigade until early 1943, later becoming the 44 Indian Armoured Division. In December 1943 the 26th Hussars found themselves in no Brigade when they were transferred to the Central Indian Command for special training.

The Regiment was disbanded in June 1948. The Badge shown was worn by Officers of the Regiment, OR's wore a white metal badge.
